As a reminder, here are the WCDSB Winter Weather Inclement procedures that we follow again for your review.

Please dress for the weather!  The temperatures are very low this morning but we will be going outside.  It is unsafe to be outside, improperly dressed.  Please make good decisions when you are leaving the house in the morning!

When schools are open during cold weather, special consideration is given to the safety and well-being of students while they are outside at recess, lunch, or for other outdoor activities. Temperatures and conditions vary across the Region and the WCDSB uses https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca  to assess local conditions.

During the winter months, the temperature (including wind chill OR “feels like“) is monitored before school as well as throughout the day prior to all recesses and outdoor time.

Temperatures between -20°C and -27°C students will not be outside longer than 15 minutes at each recess.

Temperatures colder than -27°C students will remain inside.

Students should arrive at school no earlier than 8:40 am – 15 minutes before the bell when supervision begins.

Walk with CAUTION! The sidewalks are very slippery when they are snow-covered.  Please walk with caution and be safe!

Drive with CAUTION!  There are lots of people on the road and lots of walkers.  Please drive carefully and make good choices about drop-off areas on the street.  If you can walk to school, we encourage you to do so, to eliminate the traffic around the building.

Dress warmly, make safe choices, and enjoy the Canadian Winter!  It is what makes our country great!
